About 8.5 percent of those surveyed said they faced physical violence and harassment at the workplace. The number of men who suffer this type of harassment is more than that of women.
Workplace violence and harassment continues to be widespread around the world. This is especially faced by women, youth, migrants and daily wage workers. This has been found in the first attempt to survey the incidence of workplace violence and harassment in the world. The survey covered nearly 75,000 employees in 121 countries.

United Nations Violence and harassment at workplace According to the report released by the United Nations International Labor Organization, Lloyd's Register Foundation and Gallup, more than 22 percent of people surveyed last year said they had experienced at least one form of violence or harassment. According to this 56-page report by the three organizations, workplace violence and harassment is widespread and deeply damaging. It has serious effects on physical and mental health. People lose their source of earning and their professional life also comes under threat. This causes economic loss to workplaces and society as well. As per the survey findings, while one-third of the people faced violence or harassment at the workplace, 6.3 per cent said they faced physical, psychological and sexual violence and harassment at the workplace. According to the report, the maximum number of cases of psychological violence and harassment were reported. 17.9 percent of employees experienced it at some point during their work.

Men are also victims of physical violence and harassment

About 8.5 percent of those surveyed said they faced physical violence and harassment at the workplace. The number of men who suffer this type of harassment is more than that of women. Apart from this, about 6.3 percent people have been victims of sexual violence and harassment, of which 8.2 percent are women and 5 percent are men. The survey found that people who experienced discrimination on the basis of gender, physical disability, nationality, ethnicity, color or religion at some point in their lives were also more likely than other people to be victims of violence or harassment in the workplace .
